7th Ewa Malewicz Music Competition for young artists

Dear teachers, students and parents,

It is with great pleasure we announce the 7th Ewa Malewicz Music Competition for young artists.

Established in 2004 by the Polish Community Council of Australia, this competition has enjoyed a proud tradition featuring fine young artists.
Live and open to the public to attend from Friday, 27 September to Sunday, 29 September, 2019, this is a free event.

Stage One – Selection Round

Fri, 27 September – Polish House “Syrena”
1325 Stud Rd, Rowville

Sat, 28 September – Polish Marian Shrine
6/8 Aberfeldie St, Aberfeldie

Stage Two – Final Round  

Sun, 29 September, 3pm – Deakin Edge, Federation Square, Cnr Swanston & Flinders Streets, Melbourne  

The competition is open to young musicians living in Australia.There are two age categories: 12 years and under, and 13 to 16 years. Instrumental categories: piano and strings (violin, viola, cello). Entries close 20 September 2019.

Participants up to 12 years – must perform two any selected pieces (including one Polish composer), contrasting, by various composers;performance time: between 5-10 minutes.

Participants between 13 and 16 years – must perform any three selected pieces (including one Polish composer), contrasting, by various composers; performance time: between 8-15 minutes.

Artistic program:

1pm – Alan Kogosowski plays Chopin – recital

3pm – 7th Ewa Malewicz Music Competition – Stage Two-Final – Awards ceremony; Polonez Song and Dance Ensemble – dance performance

6pm – Tribute to Komeda – Film Music Festival; co-production by Polish Film Festival
