Escape to an oasis in the centre of the city’s harbour-side celebrations this Australia Day, for a free, fun and family-friendly experience at Government House, Sydney.
From 9:30am to 5:30pm on Sunday 26 January, discover Sydney’s ‘Castle by the Harbour’. Explore the exquisite State rooms, picnic in the magnificent gardens, check out emergency vehicles, or simply enjoy the great music on offer.
The Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AO QC, said “Dennis and I invite you to come and enjoy this special day at the House. The beautiful redesigned Eastern Terrace garden will be starting to bloom, and our friendly guides will show you around.”
Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, Muscular Dystrophy NSW, The Society of Australian Genealogists, St John Ambulance NSW, and Guide Dogs NSW/ACT are among the organisations showcasing their work throughout the day. A donation can be made to support these organisations.
See guide dogs in action, first aid demonstrations, and meet horses from the NSW Police Force Mounted Unit.
The Fire and Rescue NSW Band and the NSW Corrective Services Band will entertain you throughout the day andsausages will be sizzling, with sales supporting Scouts NSW – Normanhurst.
