
The State Member for Lakemba, Jihad Dib, headed the guest list for the 25th anniversary celebration of the founding of Horizon Puppet Theatre based in Wiley Park, on Saturday 28th May.
Also in attendance was Clr Bhadra Waiba on behalf of Clr Khal Asfour, Mayor of the City of Canterbury Bankstown.
The Council has and continues to support Horizon Theatre.
The theatre, founded by Romanian born and trained master puppeteer, MaddySlabacu has entertained children in the Canterbury Bankstown area for a quarter of a century.
With the arrival of new joint Artistic Director ShabnamTavakol, the theatre plans to continue well into the future.
State MP, Jihad Dib, mingled on stage with puppeteers and their puppet characters as well as delighted local children.
He congratulated Horizon Theatre on its contribution to the local community and praised the leadership of Ms Slabacu who, he said, had demonstrated the value of the theatre in the park as a great community asset.
He also talked about the Theatre being internationally awarded and how that brought credit to the local community.
