Inaugural Paderewski Tour

Join Orava Quartet and Aleksandra Świgut in a program of Chopin, Penderecki and Kilar.
Presented by Friends of Chopin Australia, this tour commemorates the tour in Australian of Polish pianist and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski in 1904, nearly 120 years ago.
Paderewski was one of the foremost Chopin interpreters and champions, who edited a complete edition of Chopin’s works. He was also Poland’s Prime Minister, appointed in 1919, and was one of the signatories to the Treaty of Versailles.
Paderewski’s Australian tour was greeted with tremendous public enthusiasm, and he played concerts in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
