Make Music Day @ Sydney Olympic Park

Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world on 21 June. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 800 cities in 120 countries.

This year, we’ve ramped up our celebration of Make Music Day ay Sydney Olympic Park and we’ll be celebrating this most universal of all artforms at multiple locations over three days in June.

Saturday 19 June 11am – 6pm Abattoir Heritage Precinct
As part of the Winter Garden Festival, we’ll be turning up the dial on Live Music with a great program of local acts throughout the day.  There’ll be dozens of stalls, kids activities, great food, a bar and lots of tunes provided by six acts drawn from the fresh and lively western Sydney music scene.

Sunday 20 June 9.30am – 12pm Cathy Freeman Park, then  lunchtime to early evening, Ribs ‘n’ Rumps
As part of the Little Athletics Event in Cathy Freeman Park, the Lolo Lovina Gypsy Caravan will be rolling in to town to play some tunes for mums, dads and kids once they’ve finished showing off their athletics skills. Meanwhile, down at Ribs ‘n’ Rumps, why not laze away the afternoon with a long lunch? Enjoy great food, drink and music as this local restaurant comes alive with a mix of jazz and roots music bands.

Monday 21 June 12-2pm Jacaranda Square

Join us for the launch of our new “Plug ‘n’ Play” Live Music Hub for a lunchtime in the Park musical session.  We’re busy curating a program of acts comprising the best the West live music scene has to offer.
