Synopsis: Masha, 17 and Valentyna, 41 are just two of the estimated 7 million women and children who cross the border into Poland in 2022 because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. They find safe haven in Polish homes, but face tough decisions for their future with their own families now split across Europe. Filmed largely by the women themselves on their own phones, this powerful new documentary takes us into the real lives of people forced out of their homes by the war.
Simon Target is a Sydney based film maker whose recent work includes A Town Called Brzostek, The Polish Missionaries, and Warrawong (shown at this year’s Sydney and Kraków Film Festivals).
Simon photographed his wife Dr Beata Zatorska’s Polish memoir/cookbooks Rose Petal Jam and Sugared Orange.
