The Shed Theatre, Mornington Peninsula’s Newest, Live Music & Entertainment Venue.

Mick Thomas, Charlie Owen, Debra Byrne, Brooke Taylor, Delsinki, Lost Ragas & Timothy Wolf & The Howlers are just a few names who have already filled the room with their fans, and taken advantage of Mornington Peninsula’s newest, yet rustic and recycled old Shed Theatre. Located out the back of The Pig & Whistle Tavern, the space provides an intimate and unique experience with its velvet red curtains, stage lighting, vintage furniture, and corrugated iron lined walls.
The Shed has been a saviour for artists looking to kick start their music career following the devastating Covid Pandemic. Recovering from the impact Covid has had on the entertainment industry, Shed Theatre owner and founder, James McPherson couldn’t wait to fill his venue with budding artists, providing a free space, keeping costs low for all those who were interested.
Whilst the venue maybe filled with live performance on the weekends, during the week, The Shed has been a thriving space for other forms of art and activity, creating a huge hype amongst the community. Their most recent project was a huge success, called ‘Barefoot & Whistling Rock School’, the activity was a 3-day live band and singing workshop involving people living with a disability, concluding with a public performance on the stage.
Since the venue opened in January 2022, McPherson has brought on staff to manage the high demand of interest from artists from all over Australia. Even though the venue is not yet making a profit, it has definitely brought a ball of positive energy, good people and inspiration to its location in Main Ridge. It’s a destination for locals and visitors of all walks of life.
The venue has planned to host comedy, burlesque, life drawing, music, cabaret and musical theatre during the second half of 2022.
